Cherednichenko Zhenya, 7 month

Date of birth: 21 October 2008.
Ukraine.

Diagnosis: liver cirrhosis. Due to negligence of the doctors, this little boy did not get a surgery that could had helped him on time. Now the only way he can survive is to get a parent liver transplant. You helped his family to raise required 2,660,000 rubles (85,807 US dollar or 61,860 Euro) to pay for the surgery. Thank you!

From Dmitri Cherednichenko's letter, father of Zhenya Cherednichenko:

I want to say thank you very much for helping to collect money for Zhenya's surgery. Zhenya's condition is getting worse every day and our little boy needs urgent hospitalization so that doctors can stabilize his condition. Thank for all of you our son will soon have a liver transplant surgery. Our parenting gratitude does not have boundaries! How can we tell you what we feel? We came to a foreign country with a very sick child. We did not have no money, no friends here, and no connections. We are so grateful to those who help us find doctors and money for the surgery, those who gave us support and hope. You gave our son a chance to live! Now all we have left is hope that our son will be able to handle the so needed surgery. But at this point we know that everything possible has been done to save his life! Thank you very much!

14 July 2009

We cordially thank Italian association Aiutateci a salvare i bambini for their help to Zhenya's family. Today Katya Cherednichenko, Zhenya's mother, received 4000 euros. Upon Zhenya's family those funds will pay for the medications after surgery that was not calculated into the needed amount to pay for the surgery itself.

14 July 2009

Money that needed to pay for Zhenya's surgery is successfully raised! Thank you very much to those who responded to Zhenya's need! Today we got in contact with head doctor running the department of liver transplant in the RNCH, Eduard Kim, and discussed further treatment of the little boy:

In similar to Zhenya's cases we recommend to start therapy at home, when a child stays at home at comes to the hospital only for scheduled tests and consultation. Unfortunately in Zhenya's case this type of treatment did not give the wanted results: anthropometrical data did not change (height, weight).

We gave Zhenya's parents address of some better technologically equipped clinics, as we always say «Always say the truth», we also warned the parents about possible complications after the surgery and survival statistics (about 80-90 % in Europe as well as in the USA). Zhenya's parents made their decision to have their son's surgery done in Russia. We have very important responsibility for the life of this child. Although we would not take this responsibility if we did not have successful stories of the patients in similar to Zhenya's condition. Zhenya's practicing doctor - Andrei FIlin, has the vast experience in organ transplant surgeries in Russia.

Little Zhenya is only 7 months old, but he already knows what is pain, fear, shots and surgery. Doctors in Ukrain, where Zhenya is from, waited too long to diagnose little boy. They assumed one thing than another. Finally when little Zhenya got operated and his little belly was scarred from scalpel, Ukrainian doctors dizgnozed him with liver cirrhosis. The doctors decided there was nothing to help the boy and sent him home. To die.

Luckily, Zhenya’s mom and dad did not agree to that. They collected all the funds they had and went to Moscow. With the help of local volunteers they were able to get their son diagnozed by Rissian surgeons. Russian doctors disagreed with their Ukrainian collegues. Zhenya’s life can be and MUST be saved! THis baby needs urgent surgery to transplant liver from a blood relative. One of his parents will be a donor.

Now the only thing that is left is to collect funds for this surgery to happen. Almost 3,000,000 rubles (it’s almost 94000 dollars). 56,000 dollars is collected. But this little boy needs help to collect the rest of the money. Please help to save a life of a little boy who may have big dreams if you help him to survive!
