We thank you for the help in fund raising for Lydia! The training equipment Parapodium is already paid for and in the nearest future will be delivered to Lydia’s home. Also we will transfer to her family 37,000 roubles which have remained after payment for a training equipment. This sum will be used for payment for current treatment, a course of massage and services of the nurse during hospital stay.

Lydia, a taxi driver, was violently attacked in 2005. As a result, she is partially paralyzed and moves around in a wheelchair. To restore her motor activity, physicians recommend exercising at home using mobility aids, specifically a device called the Dynamic Parapodium. Its cost is 73,400 Rubles (approx. $2,300), and the family cannot afford it. Lydia has a teenage son, and he is the main reason why she wants to be able to walk.

The Dynamic Parapodium is an active standing frame, technically speaking a Reciprocating Walking Orthoses. The Parapodium has benefited many individuals with varying disability such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, spinally injured (paraplegia and tetraplegia), to name a few.
