From Vova’s letter:
This is my call for help, to all kind-hearted people. I have had cystic fibrosis for 20 years already. After I turned 18 I was not welcome in the hospitals anymore. According to our laws, I can’t be hospitalized in children’s cystic fibrosis center, but in our city we don’t have a center for adults. It’s been almost a year since I was properly treated with antibiotics. Only with the help of kind people I was able to receive one course of treatment with Toby last year. The results of that course were incredible. I don’t cough that much and that often, I don’t get shortness of breath and asphyxia, I am more active, eat better and I am in a better mood. I lead an almost normal life, I hang out with friends. Girls now look my way sometimes, whereas before they would turn away because I coughed all the time.
Tests say that I still have small colonies of infection in my lungs. It is especially important that I receive the treatment now to fight pseudomonas aeruginosa completely. Besides, I have cirrhosis and the doctors say I need a transplant. To do that my lungs need to be free of infection.
I know I am a good person, and I believe that I have a future with friendship, love and a family of my own. Suffering and pain are not the only things left for me. I am begging you, give me a chance to get rid of the infection that is destroying my lungs.
